About the Position The Director of Events drives, manages and executes catering and event operations for all Momofuku locations. This role is part of the Momofuku Operations team and, as such, works closely with all corporate and restaurant teams to strategize and execute catering & event operations both in and outside of our restaurants. This includes all aspects of catering and event operations, with a focus on the creation of innovative event offerings and the setting of financial targets. This role is responsible for upholding Momofukus culture and brand identity across all catering and event operations in order to ensure consistency of brand identity and growth of business. The Director of Events also works closely with the Marketing & PR teams on special events associated with Chef David Chang and visiting chefs. This is an operational role that requires time spent in both the corporate office and in the field. This is an interdisciplinary role that requires the ability to effectively communicate with various teams at all levels of the organization. CATERING EVENTS OPERATIONS: Manage all aspects of catering and event operations; this includes but is not limited to: fielding inquiries, site visits, client meetings, developing proposals, negotiating contracts, liaising with restaurant and partner teams, on site event execution, billing and rentals, and event follow up Oversee and manage a team of event managers across all Momofuku locations in conjunction with their direct managers Responsible for developing and maintaining all catering and event offerings including pricing, processes, systems, menus and logistics for new & existing locations Work closely with General Managers and Executive Chefs to oversee and manage the execution of catering and events both on site and off-site Work closely with the restaurant & strategy teams to audit & edit catering and event offerings regularly to ensure Momofuku remains competitive, appealing and ahead of trends Adhere to Momofuku standards of service and ensure brand consistency at all times Work closely with operations and restaurant teams to ensure consistent & exceptional service, executing events that are memorable, genuine and leave guests feeling a part of Momofuku Maintain and distribute a catering and events calendar for use at both the corporate and restaurant levels through TripleSeat Schedule and execute regular meetings both at the corporate and restaurant levels to review all aspects of catering and event operations for upcoming events as well as bigger projects Maintain weekly communication with each of the restaurants to review upcoming event details and timelines (BEOs) Ensure proper communication and allocation of resources for all aspects of catering and event operations to provide a seamless and positive guest experience Establish a clear line of communication between the catering and events department and the restaurant teams to ensure seamless event execution Create & target client relationships with a focus on building long term relationships and maintain a database of all clients Foster positive client relationships in order to maintain and grow overall business & client network, this includes touch points from the first client interaction through post-event follow up Build & maintain relationships with external vendors for catering events including: rental companies, staffing agencies, venus, etc to ensure seamless event execution MARKETING, STRATEGY BRAND: Promote Momofukus catering and events program across all Momofuku locations via methods and platforms built in cooperation with Marketing, Strategy and Brand teams Work closely with Marketing, Strategy and Brand teams to develop and maintain outward facing sales and marketing materials specific to catering and events (website, printed materials, menus, social media etc.) Create framework for in-restaurant marketing and promotional events Work with Marketing, Strategy and Brand teams to develop and maintain compelling collateral for internal and external use Work with Director of Partnerships to strategize on sponsorships and partnerships Work with the Marketing and Brand teams to execute large scale Brand events Work with the Marketing, Strategy and Brand teams to develop strategies to build & maintain a client database SALES FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT: Create the annual Catering & Events Budget in conjunction with finance, strategy, brand and marketing teams for both restaurant and corporate levels and drive development of company-wide sales plans and strategies Responsible for the realization of budgeted revenue and EBITDA targets. In conjunction with GMs and ECs, analyze and speak to P&L statements across Momofuku for all catering and events, including analysis of pricing and costing Define monthly and quarterly event sales goals; evaluate and communicate progress against these goals in an effort to consistently improve Create and adhere to monthly budgets and quotas; create sales strategies to meet and/or exceed them In conjunction with finance, strategy, and operations teams, develop strategies and policies to drive events profitability in a way that improves the bottom line of relevant restaurants In conjunction with the finance team, establish and implement policies for processing and tracking catering and event related finances, this includes but is not limited to: pricing, sales goals, costing, client deposits and payments, billing and rentals Work closely with relevant teams, including GMs and ECs, to ensure that food and beverage offerings and minimums are priced competitively to drive sales Set quarterly targets and goals for your events team to help meet or exceed budgets, providing them with regular check ins on their status and assist in ways to achieve those goals LEADERSHIP: Oversee and manage a team of event managers across Momofuku to provide best in class catering and event execution and service Demonstrate Momofuku core values at all times Work closely with the Learning and Development team to develop and maintain training material for catering and event operations Assist with training and operations related to catering and events during the pre-opening and launch period of new restaurants/concepts Ensure all team members are proficiently trained in all aspects of Momofuku catering and events operations Create and maintain systems for providing regular feedback to catering and events team members as well as creating a process for development to ensure employee growth and satisfaction Conduct regular internal reviews with relevant teams to ensure we are always learning and creating best practices for catering and event operations Work diligently to develop and maintain a positive, productive and educational team dynamic and work environment SKILLS REQUIREMENTS: 8 years of experience in event sales and management, leading and managing an events team Strong service background and understanding of restaurant operations required Strong network of corporate and community contacts highly preferred Catering and events experience in both restaurants and off-site locations required Proven track record of executing catering and events of varying scopes and sizes Works well both independently as well as part of a team Extraordinary organizational and communication skills and strong attention to detail Experience with various types of press and marketing strategies and/or campaigns Experience in creating & managing budgets Bachelors Degree in Business, Hospitality Management or related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience required Familiarity with typical restaurant & hospitality software preferred: Avero, Tripleseat, Compeat, Micros / Aloha, etc. Familiarity with google suite, adobe & microsoft office suite preferred Ability to travel, as needed, for offsite events and Momofuku site visits Must have a flexible work schedule, frequently requires nights and weekends Associated topics: ad, advertise, analyst, business, cmo, endowment, fundraise, government, principle gift, university relationship
