Acara Solutions is currently seeking a Director of Fleet for our client, a leading provider of non-medical transportation across NYS. The Director of Fleet will provide strategic leadership on the oversight of fleet set up and field support services, including fleet maintenance management as well as logistical planning and execution of fleet operations. This position will provide technical expertise including but not limited to vehicle/machine specification, up fitting, drive adherence to best in class maintenance practices as well as the oversight of a distributed team. The Director will also ensure proper field fleet staffing levels, conduct training, will participate in strategic fleet planning, drives asset utilization, and maximize asset re-marketing proceeds. Primary Responsibilities -Fleet Management: Manage and direct best in class fleet management practices through effective staffing, training and management of fleet personnel to optimize safety, spend reduction and increased performance. -Management and oversight of both internal and external fleet resources. -Vehicle Maintenance Programs: Create, operationalize and implement a robust fuel, preventative maintenance and field technician program. Regularly review fleet management program policies and procedures. -Compliance: Remain knowledgeable of and compliant with federal, state, and local regulations affecting fleet operations, including state (New York specifically) and Federal DOT guidelines; maintain registration and licensing of all vehicles and keeping inspections up to date so as to ensure satisfactory safety and DOT scores. -Analysis and Reporting: Evaluate existing fleet management activities, protocols, and procedures. Utilize information, data and formal analysis to identify and understand issues, and opportunities. -Financial, Data and Performance Management: Create an economical, safe, and environmentally efficient use of fleet resources. Actively manage key performance metrics to measure and report on critical areas, including fleet policy compliance; cost, utilization and sustainability. -Employee Relations and Team Development: Build a supportive and cohesive work environment. Required Skills / Qualifications: -HS Diploma or GED -5 years of fleet management experience Preferred Skills / Qualifications -5 years of asset acquisition, asset management and specifications. -At minimum, 5 years of leadership experience -Background in working in the transportation industry, preferably passenger transportation -Thorough knowledge of fleet management legislation and best practices -Proven operational and technical expertise in aspects of asset management -Strong analysis, strategic visioning, customer service, and change management skills Aleron companies; Acara Solutions, Aleron Shared Resources, Broadleaf Results, Lume Strategies, Viaduct, and Aleron's strategic partner, SDI are Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employers.
