Job Overview: The Manager, Merchandise Reporting plays a lead role in the prioritization and development of corporate reporting not available in standardized reporting systems by using various technical systems and applications. The Manager is responsible for reviewing/prioritizing/sizing reporting requests and determines if the requests are best solved through maintenance to enterprise reporting, new enterprise reporting, or ad-hoc, Excel based reports. The Manager will report to the Senior Director of Merchant & Vendor Operations & Support and will have direct responsibility over a team of Business Analysts overseeing the teams projects, deliverables and workload. The Manager is the primary liaison with Merchant and Macys Technical (MTECH) teams and is the point person for requested projects. Perform other duties as assigned. Essential Functions: Assists in development and delivery of reporting strategy, streamlining ad-hoc reports for the organization. Supervise the improvement and enhancement of established databases, processes and reports based on evolving business needs. Oversee the development of customized reporting projects as well as enterprise reporting solutions. Manage the development of dashboards and report in business intelligence tools (Tableau, Power BI, Cognos Analytics, etc.). Develop large scale reports, reporting tools and analyses to understand significant variances to plan and/or history while providing relevant metrics and filtering capabilities. Actively pursue expertise in established Macys analytical tools, especially: Standard Reports, cube-based self-serve analytics, Cognos/Rubi, and SQL querying of the Macys Enterprise Data Warehouse. Acts as the primary liaison with site/digital merchant and senior management teams. Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality. Qualifications : Education/Experience: Bachelors degree w/ 5 years of relevant professional/management experience with 2 years in reporting or analytics. Experience in Retail, developing and leading a team. Advanced proficiency in MS Excel a must, including advanced formulas and pivot tables; macros and VBA coding. Outstanding data structuring skills and proficient in relational database management, maintenance and design, specifically in MS Access, SQL Server Management Studio, Teradata SQL Assistant or equivalent preferred. Strong knowledge of SQL programming required. Experience with developing dashboards/reports in business intelligence tools (Cognos, Tableau, Power BI, etc) required. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, decision making and follow-up skills . Mathematical Skills: Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division. Reasoning Ability: Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment and able to think and act strategically while maintaining a focus on tactical issues. Physical Demands: This position involves regular walking, standing, sitting for extended periods of time, hearing, and talking. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching. May involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, focus adjustment, and viewing computer monitor for extended periods of time. Involves manual dexterity for using keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment. May involve moving or lifting items under 10 pounds. Other Skills: Passionate about big data and building dashboards and reports. Is a demonstrated team leader, while being hands on for complex projects. Detail-oriented with an affinity for systems knowledge and ad-hoc problem solving. Ability to build trust and credibility to business partners. Strong project management, analytical, prioritization and negotiating skills. Work Hours: Up to 10% travel required Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
