Our client, a leading fashion & apparel company, is seeking an Accounting Director for their NYC office. RESPONSIBILITIES Provide accounting leadership and direction to the accounting team Oversee month-end closing responsibilities for wholesale and retail businesses Provide impactful detailed financial statement analysis Ensure proper wholesale revenue recognition specifically for sales allowances (ex: returns, discounts, markdowns, etc) Ensure accurate inventory accounting, including raw materials, work- in process and finished goods inventories and review inventory reserve analyses Review analysis of purchase price variances (PPV) and related freight, duty and production cost capitalization adjustments related to the Company's manufacturing operations as well as goods procured overseas Oversee the preparation of relevant schedules for the quarterly reviews and annual audits. Provide necessary schedules and support for SEC filings, while maintain a close relationship with the Director of Financial Reporting. Work closely with IT, supply chain, and planning teams to design, develop and implement process improvements (SOP's) and best practices Improve and maintain internal control procedures Work closely with FP&A team in budgeting and forecasting Support external year- end audits Review balance sheet reconciliations Develop and oversee execution of finance testing for IT system enhancements and initiatives Partnership with operations teams on physical inventory counts in store and at warehouses Assist with ad- hoc assignments and special projects
QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's in Accounting (strongly preferred) CPA is a must, MBA is a plus 8-12 years of progressive experience in accounting and audit Public/private accounting mix, with auditing firm experience preferred Retail/wholesale inclusive of manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred Experience implementing and optimizing internal ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics preferred) Results oriented, flexible, resourceful and self- motivated with the ability to manage multiple deliverables Personable, with a proven ability to manage people Must be detail oriented and experienced in follow0 through and completion of projects Strong analytical, written and verbal skills Strong time- management skills and ability to adhere to month- end close timelines Proficiency in Excel and general ledger applications * The salary listed in the header is an estimate based on salary data for similar jobs in the same area.
