ILWU Credit Union is a growing financial institution founded in 1954. We serve Members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Workers Union and their families within California with branches in Wilmington, San Pedro, Long Beach, Oakland, and San Francisco. We are a small but growing team of about 60 employees anchored in the Longshore community and proud of our contributions.The ILWU Credit Union has an immediate opening at our Oakland branch for a Branch Manager with a minimum of four years of branch supervisory experience in a credit union or banking environment.OverviewThe Branch Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the branch and assists the Branch Services Manager with managerial and administrative functions. You will lead the Member Services team in building and maintaining solid relationships with the Members; supervise, train, coach, monitor, and provide guidance and assistance to the Member Services team; maintain the standards of compliance and security while ensuring the delivery of excellent service in every member interaction; and reinforce the credit union's sales and service culture by supporting the Member Services team in cross-selling products and services.ResponsibilitiesOversees the daily responsibilities of the Member Services team, including teller and platform transactions/services.Assigns, directs, coordinates, and reviews daily responsibilities of team members.Monitors branch activity, including number of transactions, volume, teller errors, and new accounts.Responsible for hiring, scheduling, and training team members for efficient workflow, proper branch coverage, and high service levels.Works with branch team to meet/exceed established service goals.Adheres to the training curriculum for branch personnel.Ensures training materials are updated and relevant.Oversees the effective operation of the ATM machines and Teller Cash Dispatch (TCD)/Vault.Applies and evaluates policies and procedures established for the branch.Reviews, identifies, analyzes, and recommends process/workflow changes to improve and maintain the highest level of operational efficiency.Maintains a highly motivated and well-trained staff through managing and coaching team to success.Serves as a point of escalation to assist employee and member requests, concerns and complaints.Authorizes exceptions to standard policy or procedure when warranted, based on established limits.Conducts branch audits and makes recommendations for operational improvement as needed.Reviews departmental policies and procedures for compliance, service quality, process improvement, and operational efficiencies and shares changes with Branch Services Manager.Ensures that internal controls are adequately reviewed to limit exposure to fraud and keep financial losses to a minimum.Evaluates the knowledge and effectiveness of the branch team and their service to the membership.Maintains an expert level of understanding of state and federal regulations and ensures branch compliance with all.Coaches team to support personal development, areas of improvement, employee engagement, and increased knowledge across all credit union departments.Assigns team to assist business development in the community and SEG events to increase membership, deposits and loan growth.Fosters teamwork with all departments.Supports all branches with branch coverage, branch balancing, and opening and closing branches.Maintains a high level of knowledge and procedural expertise in all credit union products and services.Ensures compliance with all state and federal regulations pertaining to department and incorporates these compliance requirements into departmental policy and procedures, which include but are not limited to the Privacy Act, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Reg. CC and Patriot Act.Performs specific and delegated duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED is required.Minimum of four years of branch supervisory experience in a credit union or banking environment.Ability to effectively delegate and direct team to complete tasks along with a working knowledge of managing/coaching techniques to enhance team/branch productivity and maintain positive team morale.Must be bondable.Extensive knowledge of rules, regulations, policies and procedures governing a financial institution.Experienced in team member coaching, mentoring and training.Must be approachable, friendly and congenial, but firm and fair when necessary.Self-motivated and self-directed. Ability to work independently and assume accountability for area of responsibility.Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.Excellent organization and time management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
