Plant Operations ManagerOverviewThe Plant Operations Manager will own the coffee roasting operation’s function. Tasks include planning, organizing, directing and controlling all operational activities. In addition, the candidate will ensure all coffee roasting, packaging and storage is compliant to the guidelines of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safe Quality Foods practices (SQF) and Food Safety regulations. They will also oversee and monitor the performance of the Plant Operations as it relates to quality, safety, productivity, cost control, service to sales, employee training and leadership development.About the role:We're looking for an individual who wants career advancement opportunities and a challenging role as Coffee Roasting Plant Manager. The role will oversee 20 direct reports in all aspects of the plant operations. This role will report directly to the CEO. The plant is in Oakland, CA.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Oversee total plant processesOversee plant compliance and interactions with all Certification Bodies.Develop and maintain systems to assure compliance to all Food Safety requirements including Commitment, Document Control and Records, Specification, Product Identification, Trace and Recall, Incident Management, and Food Safety Fundamentals. Oversee maintenance of all production equipment including records keeping procedures and compliance. Lead teams in efficient production of goods and report metrics to superiors. Develop and execute employee training and maintain all training for warehouse operations. Develop safety programs with safety officer and train staff in all aspects of plant safety. Maintain HAACP program and train staff in maintaining HAACP procedures. Establishing quality system compliance objectives and ensuring that targets are achieved.Institute and maintaining control and documentation procedures.Administrate records keeping systems and data protectionDevelop and implement a variety of procedures and management systems to ensure compliance with pertinent food regulations (GMP, SQF, HACCP, and Plant Inspections) and product specifications.Maximize efficiency in plant. Qualifications and Skills:Progressive experience (5+ years) within food, beverage or pharma industry desiredSQF, GMP experience a plusProven experience (3+ years) in a Plant Manager RoleBachelor's Degree a plusDemonstrated success as a change agent, developing/implementing continuous process improvement initiatives and accountability programsDemonstrated success assessing, developing and retaining top talentDeployment and integration of technology tools to streamline inventory control a plusRequirements:HACCP Certification from a nationally / internationally recognized and accredited HACCP training firm is a plusPossess a thorough understanding of FDA and/or USDA inspected manufacturing facilitiesMust have strong organizational, leadership and communication skillsAble to work with cross functional departments within the organizationGood problem solving and corrective action/resolution skillsStrong computer skills with experience using Word, Excel, Access, Power Point.Excellent skills for leading or facilitating multi-organizational teams to success on complex multidimensional projects.Excellent communication skills in order to build teams to lead progress to plan and to get management support and buy-in for complex projects.Desire to own decisions and take responsibility for outcomes.Must possess and demonstrate solid analytical and problem-solving skills.Food Safety & Quality Requirements/Responsibilities:Adheres to all Food Safety/Quality SOP’sAccurately completes required Food Safety & Quality recordsCommunicates any known or suspected Food Safety/ Quality issues to the Q.A and Department ManagerAttends all Food Safety/Quality training sessionsReports back to Senior Management on the facilities’ compliance status through Management Reviews and/or meetings as necessary.Plant Management Requirements/Responsibilities: Meticulous record keeping in accordance with the company’s record keeping guidelinesManage production staff and oversee all plant production processesAccurately assess inventory controls Identify potential safety hazards in the plantOversee facility maintenanceReduce waste and inefficiencies in productionIdentify/mitigate production bottlenecksAssess capacity of production equipmentOversee our production line and supply chainResponsible for a combination of reducing cost, increasing capacity, meeting customer expectations, and improving qualityImplement tactical changes on a daily or weekly level (changing SOPs or team priorities) and strategic changes (changing the supply chain or upgrading equipment)Oversee all product lines from production, fulfillment, and logisticsResearch new processes & manufacturing equipmentCreate & implement a strategy to reduce unit cost with an analytical, data-driven approach.
