We’re a small team looking for a mid-level Product Manager to work with our Director of Product in the development of AnnieCannons’ client services and coordination of development teams. We expect the Product Manager to grow into a supervisory role with the goal of managing 1-3 Associate Product Managers within 2-4 years. The Product Manager’s core functions are in product strategy, client, and team management. After interfacing with the client and determining the product’s needs, the PM will strategize product scope, determining the methodology for what we will build and how it will be built. The PM is responsible for skillfully leading the development team in execution while maintaining clear communication and alignment with the client and AnnieCannons stakeholders. The PM will champion the quality of AnnieCannons’ services and ensure products are delivered on time and on or under budget. They will empower AnnieCannons’ students as they transition out of the classroom and into the office by providing clear instruction and support. Role + Responsibilities Product StrategyRequirements GatheringIn coordination with the Business Development team, translating client goals, KPIs, features, and functionality into requirementsDocumentation in the form of a Product Requirements Document that outlines objectives, core components, and user flowsSupport Architecture PlanningIn coordination with the CTO, determining the technical roadmap. This includes the database approach, programming languages, frameworks, 3rd-party integrations, and hosting/deployment strategiesResearching SolutionsAssessment of existing solutions for features, functionality, and UI for both front end and back endTimeline and Budget EstimatesAt a high level, helping to determine timelines and budgets for features, functionality, and activities associated with a project/productClient Services Coordinate and manage client projects with guidance from Director of Product after client contract is signed, including:Websites and ApplicationsManage all phases of the product lifecycle from discovery to deploymentServe as last-stop for questions and issues from team before client contactCreate a professional, respectful and proficient atmosphere in which to communicate with the clientCreate a framework for stakeholder management, client reviews and presentations and approvalsData, Administrative and Testing (QA) ProjectsSupervise the Data & Admin Manager as they support the teams performing servicesCommand the basics of Project Management activities like reviewing legal documents to identify scope, writing professional emails, running meetings, project planning, roadmapping, timelines and financialsUnderstand principles of project management and when to “take or leave” certain elements based on the needs of AnnieCannons, the product/project or the teamPrioritize features and functionality, keeping in mind the overall product vision while addressing project constraints (i.e. timeline, budget, client opinion) Provide rationale for decisions that are made in the best interest of the client’s goals, timeline and budgetApproach product goals and KPIs using industry best practices and design thinkingGain approval from the client at each phase, deliverable to ensure alignment and project healthJoin high-priority client prospect meetings in order to collect relevant information about client needs for distribution to team members, who may not always be physically present in the Bay AreaParticipate in complex estimates for client prospectsEnsure top quality deliverables that meet client specificationsIn 12-18 months, transition to managing other segment-specific product managers assigned on a per-project basis (after helping to define how to identify, credential, and supervise these associate PMs) Team Management Manage design, development, and testing teams composed of qualified graduates, Developer Alliance members (professional freelancers working on a paid basis for taking apprentices), and volunteersScope and plan projects/products with clarity, allowing the team to accelerate through the workCreate well defined user stories and acceptance criteriaMaintain project assets in an organized and searchable fashion, inclusive of design files, content, data, feedback and bugsConduct regular retrospectives, ensuring that the space if safe, honest and productiveBalance management for multiple projects of differing complexity and nature simultaneously, developing strategies for more efficient management among and between common project typesGuest lecture/contribute to classTeach classes on Product Management to the students while they are in training, usually 1-4 sessions per class cohortParticipate in product brainstorm class sessions to enable AnnieCannons students to ideate and design software solutions that address major social issues that drive human trafficking and gender-based violenceHelp bring student-conceived and student-led products like to life as a means to support products that solve for human trafficking, domestic violence, and sexual assaultFacilitate problem solving guiding without providing the answer, asking questions instead of being prescriptive, and instilling confidence in the process of debugging and refactoringCreate an atmosphere of support and structure for your team acknowledging the unique perspectives of the survivors based on generalized knowledge of their experiencesAt AnnieCannons we utilize a trauma informed, strengths based approach that is survivor informed and seeks to actively resist re-traumatization Qualifications1-3+ years experience with software product management Strong written and verbal communications skills;
