Syracuse, NY, USA Full Time competitive salary with generous benefits package Email Me Similar Jobs Email Me This Job Employment Specialist Full-Time Opening An Employment Specialist provides job coaching supports to promote job retention, motivation, inclusion and career planning for individuals served. The caseload is primarily supported by OPWDD Supported Employment regulations. Requirements 1. Works independently with the ability to manage a caseload, prioritize workload, and adjust to changes based on individual and program needs. 2. Evaluates own work performance for continuous improvement and to provide high quality services. 3. Collaborates with other EO staff members to ensure coverage, communicate needs of individuals, and to share information about community supports and opportunities that could benefit individuals served. 4. Provides a customer-service approach to individuals served other providers, family members, Care Managers, Plan Coordinators and co-workers to anticipate and meet needs and expectations. 5. Demonstrates creativity, problem solving and critical thinking skills to work toward desired outcomes for the individual and the billing needs of the program. 6. Facilitates and develops the use of natural and community support opportunities. Develops job coaching strategies to include use of self-management, support team and social interaction strategies. 7. Utilizes a variety of job coaching techniques to meet the employee and employer needs, including: job analysis, coaching the employee to meet employer expectations, documentation of progress, working toward self-sufficiency and providing recommendations for continued supports. 8. Assists the individual with the onboarding and inclusion process. Collaborates with supervisors regarding strategies, accommodations and modifications. Conducts situational assessments as necessary. 9. Assesses the work site and ensures it is a suitable work environment and trains the employee to follow all safety procedures. 10. Maintains contact with the employee's supervisor to ensure job expectations are being met. Assists with communication between the employee and supervisor as needed in an effort to avoid job separation. 11. Improves motivation by assisting the individual with adding additional work skills and experiences, increasing work hours, working toward promotion or assisting with a secondary or alternative job based on the wishes of the individual. 12. Works flexible hours including days, evenings, weekends and holidays, as necessary, in order to meet the needs of the Individuals served. Provide coverage for assignments when necessary. 13. Transports self and individuals we serve to meetings and employment-related activities in personal vehicle. 14. Responsible to meet billing requirements and community contacts as necessary per regulatory guidelines and/or as indicated by Program Manager. 15. Supports the Goals and Mission of Arc of Onondaga County. Ensures that your communications and personal performance reflect the Agency's commitment to teamwork, compliance with policies and procedures and respect for individuals and staff. 16. Possesses computer and office technology expertise that is required to fulfill job responsibilities and assignments. 17. Attends and participates in required Arc meetings, staff development and training programs. 18. Establishes and provides clear and legible documentation and compliance records required by Arc and other government agencies. 19. Conducts all agency business and complete job responsibilities in accordance with agency Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Plan. 20. Provides other job-related support and services as required or assigned by management. Note Requirements 1-19 are Essential Job Requirements Education & Experience Requirements Associates Degree in Human Services or a related field preferred. One year minimum experience working with persons with disabilities; two years' experience preferred. Combination of education and experience which, in the judgement of the employer, equals above standards. A valid NYS driver's license and a driving record acceptable to the Agency's insurance carrier.
