Purpose and Scope
The Ecommerce Director is responsible for running, growing and optimizing all ecommerce-related business functions for the companys owned website, johnvarvatos.com, and is the key stakeholder in site experience and performance marketing tactics. This role is tasked with overseeing all website promotional strategy and calendar, site merchandising and optimization, and traffic strategies for the website. This role also leads the brands customer service team and is a key player in the evolution of JVs omnichannel strategy. The Ecommerce Director will partner with VP and other executives to develop robust ecommerce models to scale, will drive a center of excellence in ecommerce, and will consistently bring operational expertise to cross-functional teams.


Job Responsibilities

  • Direct the Ecommerce channels sales, productivity, and profitability through analysis, ideation, and management.
  • Manage all aspects of the ecommerce platform and integrations, work cross functionally to ensure operational efficiency, and continuously improve site functionality and operations to deliver world class service.
  • Direct Customer Service team to manage all CS activities including order processing, refund management, and all client communication methods via phone, email, and chat.
  • Utilize data to inform decisions on all marketing spend and promotional weight. Provide analytics on effectiveness of customer acquisition strategies, constantly testing and tuning.
  • Develop plan for and manage all ecommerce ROI marketing programs including the areas of SEO, paid search, retargeting, display ads, email marketing, affiliate marketing, syndication of content into paid channels etc.
  • Develop the ecommerce marketing calendar to align with Retail, product launch calendar, and ecommerce objectives.
  • Devise and lead email communications program ensuring they drive sales and brand engagement, and develop lifecycle marketing campaigns to drive loyalty and retention among existing customers.
  • Partner with Digital Program Manager and Digital Creative Director to build excellence on site experience and functional enhancements.
  • Partner with Social team on developing key media campaigns, and with other marketing and sales teams in driving the recruitment of new guests.
  • Leverage merchandising and content expertise to help develop a best-in-class web experience that maximizes conversion opportunities and encourages more site visits.
  • Develop a strong data analysis culture for all marketing and email activities to improve customer engagement, acquisition, and site conversion.
  • Execute trend analysis, monitoring and competitive benchmarking. Provide weekly, monthly and quarterly KPI reports.
  • Manage, lead and develop Ecommerce team and vendors to achieve business goals.
  • Manage, lead and develop Customer Service team to achieve business goals.
  • Present budget, strategy, and monthly business reviews to C-level executive management.
  • Other Duties as assigned


Position Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will have experience managing ecommerce within a multi-channel company.
  • Must have the ability to adapt well in fast-paced and continuously growing working environment and integrate into an already established digital team.


Education and Experience

  • 7+ years previous experience in e-commerce or digital marketing with a strong track record working in the digital space.
  • Must be well-versed in customer acquisition and retention techniques with a proven track record in driving significant traffic and sales growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a P&L or line of business. Core operational strength and the ability to make the right budget decisions to drive business success.
  • Demonstrated experience managing quantitative information and iterative testing to drive business decisions.
  • Ability to incorporate a strong aesthetic sense into our work, to evaluate copy and content, and to align marketing messages for a superior customer experience and brand communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, develop, and grow teams and to be inspiring to others. Also, able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Highly analytical, able to draw conclusions from sales reports, web analytics, and other systems.
  • Ability to work well across the organization and with 3rd parties.
  • Experience in luxury, fashion, and/or consumer packaged goods a plus.
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience
