At Calbright, we are building both a new college and also a new kind of college. In order to determine which tools and technologies meet the needs of this new kind of college, we need to find ways to rapidly and effectively test out and evaluate different solutions and approaches, and learn as much as possible from the experience. We're looking for someone who has both the skills and the passion to help us do this. Creating a cohesive experience while we're still evaluating different tools requires devoting time and attention to how these tools connect and how data can flow between them. We are looking for someone who is able and excited to automate disparate technologies in order to create seamless experiences. We are, without a doubt, building the plane as we're flying it. We'd like to find someone who is both excited about Calbright's mission and who shines in this type of fast-paced start-up environment. What we’re looking forexcitement about our mission. the ability to envision how to achieve a complex effect through creative scripting / coordination / automation.an impulse for improving processes and experiences as you spot opportunities to do so.the demonstrated ability to pick up new tools and become an expert in learning and leveraging capabilities and working around limitations. a keen understanding of data privacy and security concerns. Experience working with web service APIs, various scripting languages, and software automation tools the ability and desire to turn in a great “first draft” an appreciation for the difference between production engineering and prototype engineering, and the ability to do either the ability to differentiate important vs unimportant problems to solve. the ability to operate efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced start-up environment. We are, without a doubt, building this plane as we're flying it. Examples projectsapproximating the behavior of a monolithic system that takes time to fully implement (e.g. a CRM or SIS) by connecting a set of smaller systems and automating data flow to create a cohesive wholePrototyping possible tools for our employer partners to see the progress of the Calbright students in participating in their apprenticeshipSetting up and connecting community and social tools to better support our learners by connecting them to one another building and automating a no-code workflow for collecting form data, generating a PDF document for electronic signature, send it out to various parties, and archiving the signed document for future reference. Iterating on the structure and data flow powering a real-time dashboard for Calbright to track key metrics throughout the learner journey.The work environmentWorking remotely from anywhere within the state in California works for us. If you happen to live near our main office in Oakland (right next to BART) or our outposts in Sacramento and Los Angeles, you can work from one of these locations. In this case, you'll be working in a well-lit, air conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. There might be some overnight travel by land or air (less than 20%).
