What we’re looking forA learner success coach is someone who encourages learners to follow through with what they started when they begin to doubt themselves or run into obstacles. Someone who instills a growth mindset and confidence in learners. Do you want to see learners succeed and become the best version of themselves? Do you want to support learners by providing them with guidance and expertise to overcome challenges?A learner success coach makes it their primary goal to ensure that learners achieve their academic, personal and professional goals. They do this by engaging with learners throughout their academic journey. Whether it’s providing life coaching or helping to ensure learners have all the pieces in place to successfully secure employment upon completion of their program pathway. Your role is vital to the success of learners. The workThe faculty member shall be responsible for the following: providing counseling services and/or teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the CSO or designee; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course competencies; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the job duties; serving on college committees and participating in faculty governance, including accreditation and the learner scholars association, fulling other duties and responsibilities of a full-time faculty member. Assignment Responsibilities:Acting as a personal coach to help students focus on habits of success and establish personal milestones toward completion and job obtainment.Providing learners with the highest level of customer service through effective phone, email and face-to-face communication.Identifying barriers to learner success, develop action plans to focus on completion, track and communicate opportunities to increase a learners awareness of self-efficacy and agency.Collaborating with various teams to stay on the cutting edge of industry standards and employer expectations in order to best coach learners. Using professional knowledge and perspective to relate to learners to establish professional rapport and add to the learners academic and professional career experience.Providing crisis intervention and personal counseling Counseling to support learner retention and success Providing individual and group counseling to assist learners in making decisions regarding program pathways and occupational/career goals Following up and supporting learner success from enrollment, on the job training experience through employment.Studying the needs, interests, abilities, achievements, and aptitudes of learnersDeveloping and maintaining collaborative working relationships with instructional and success teams. Preparing and maintaining counseling records using current technology. Relaying pertinent information to college personnel as needed, and respecting the confidentiality of such records as required by law. Assisting learners in career coaching, in developing an understanding of the employment environment, and in making and implementing career decisions. Providing counseling for issues impacting retention, persistence, and academic success and referring learners to resources as appropriate and necessary. Minimum Qualifications1. Have a master’s degree from an accredited institution in Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Guidance Counseling, Educational Counseling, Social Work, Career Development, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling; OR, hold a bachelor’s degree in one of the degrees listed above AND a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT); OR, hold a California Community College Instructor’s Credential in the discipline area.2. Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.Bonus points for having:· Demonstrated experience in delivering personalized coaching services (academic, personal and professional) using learning diagnostic tools. · Ability to create amultitude of ways to provide high touch support for adult learners · Familiarity withcognitive development theory and/or career development theory · Familiarity withSalesforce, database software and student information systemsHours & Terms Of EmploymentExtended and/or flexible hours from home or multiple sites may include day, evening, and weekend. Assignments are typically 30-40 hours per week and 12 months per year.
