POSITION SUMMARY: The Associate Planner develops business strategies and seasonal assortment plans to maximize the development of the brand, sales and profits for one department or assigned area, maintains reporting and provides analysis to team in order to maximize sales, profit, inventory, and turn objectives, and also helps to identify opportunities and risks to drive optimal financial results.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recommends pre-season class plans for areas that offer a sales and margin opportunity
  • Develops vendor strategies by partnering with Planner and Buyer
  • Reviews in-season business analysis centered around risk and/or opportunity
  • Partners with Buyer, Planner and Assistant Planner on strategic allocations and buying of specific brands
  • Partners with Buyer, Planner and Assistant Planner to determine and manage exit strategy
  • Reviews monthly vendor analysis and makes call-outs on potential vendor issues
  • Monitors Auto Open-To-Buy (OTB) units and calls out any issues to Planner and Buyer
  • Prepares analysis for Planner for OTB meetings
  • Reviews quarterly reports and makes call outs for Buyer, who then reviews with Planner, Merchandise Manager, Divisional Merchandise Manager and General Manager
  • Trains and develops Assistant Planner(s)

Minimum Requirements

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Strong math, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to gather and interpret data for decision making
  • Understanding of financial measurements, sales, gross margin, inventory turn, weeks of supply and how to impact them
  • Ability to work in a team environment, lead a team and coach direct reports
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and thrive in a fast-paced environment

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • BA/BS
  • Two years experience in merchandising or planning allocations
  • Experience overseeing and planning at a category or vendor level
