CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking an Engineering Designer I for our Syracuse, NY office. This individual will assist with preparation of engineering design documents for building design projects. This includes researching existing documents and collaborating with members of the design team to develop required plans and details to meet project needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Produces and revises simple drawings, or sketches, related to the engineering design at the direction of a senior or principal designer, or engineer, using the standards established by the technical group. Examines drawings for errors with the assistance of a senior or principal engineering designer. Attains knowledge of the engineering discipline standards, codes, and systems through assisting with contract document preparation. Develops a familiarity with company standards, client expectations and typical engineering practices. Uses drawing production software (REVIT, AutoCAD, MicroStation etc.) to create construction documents. Accompanies senior engineering staff on field assignments when appropriate. Participates in project review meetings.
EDUCATION AND LICENSURE Associates Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Engineering Science or related technical field is required.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS 0 - 2 years of related document production experience preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong work ethic and desire to work in a collaborative team environment with the willingness to assist senior or principal level engineering designers, senior engineers and project management staff. Familiar with discipline-based software (REVIT, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.). Demonstrates a strong willingness to learn about the respective engineering discipline.
