Develops an Event Management strategy that is aligned with the brands business strategy and leads its execution. Ensures brand and regional business initiatives are implemented and communicates follow-up actions to the Convention Management Services Team as necessary.Manages Event Operations and Budgets. Prepares annual Convention Management Services Team budget.Oversees the Convention Management Services Team. Sets expectations and holds Team accountable for desired service behaviors related to product and service delivery. Communicates a clear and consistent message regarding departmental goals to produce desired results. Works with direct reports to review scheduled events and troubleshoot potential challenges/conflicts.Plans and executes the high profile accounts as well as directs all event details. Consults with customers in order to determine objectives and requirements for events such as conventions, conferences and meetings. Works directly with major groups when high profile and financial impact will be significant.Ensures meeting space and corresponding Heart of the House areas are cleaned and maintained. Ensures furniture and equipment are maintained and inventory levels are kept in accordance to corporate guidelines. Works with the Culinary Team to ensure compliance with food handling and sanitation standards.Ensures that the property is apprised of all groups that will impact property operations.Develops working relationships with outside vendors and establishes prices and service agreements to enhance the event experience and to increase additional revenue opportunities for the property. Researches and analyzes new products, pricing and services of competition.Ensures that regular, ongoing communication is happening in all areas of event operations. Communicates and ensures property and departmental emergency procedures are executed when necessary.Reviews staffing levels to ensure that guest service and operational needs are met. Interviews, hires, trains, recommends performance evaluations, resolves problems, provides open communication with associates and recommends discipline and/or termination when appropriate.Develops and implements on-going training and development plans which distinguish the Convention Services Management Team as competent and professional within the industry.Conducts pre- and post-event evaluations and report on outcomes.
