Job Description

The Body-in-White (BIW) Standards Manager is responsible for developing and improving product standards that will be incorporated into FCAs products during the early design phases. These standards ensure robust, capable and in-control processing in the areas of BIW and Paint. This person in this position ensures that Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles are rigorously respected and followed. The Manager drives implementation of product standards/DFMA requirements along with Product Engineering and read across of vehicle lines. This role benchmarks competitive vehicles as well as develops action plans to revise and refine FCAs Product/Manufacturing Standards in keeping with the state-of-art in our industry. The ideal candidate supports new model vehicle launches through all VPs stages plus, builds and creates Lesson Learned documents to be shared with all stakeholders and applied to future models. The Manager supports BIW and Paint innovation projects to get manufacturing ready for future technology applications, reports all daily build issues, and applies knowledge to accept/reject Early Product Management (EPM) card solutions submitted by assembly plants.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
5+ years work in the automotive industry including the following knowledge/experience:
Body-in-White and Paint sequence and process
Body-in-White practical experience and Joining Technology
Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), Product Location Points (PLPs) and tolerances
Body-in-White tooling
Working knowledge of Teamcenter and Vis Mockup
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Engineering
Masters degree
Vehicle launch experience
Knowledge of Design for Assembly and/or Design for Manufacturing
Proven leadership and team building abilities
Excellent organizations skills
User of Microsoft Office Project
Ability to work cross-functionally with Product Design and Advanced Vehicle Engineering
Demonstrated problem solving skills and the ability to drive change
Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization including senior management
