Shreveport, Louisiana GEICO Staff Counsel Office seeks a Legal Secretary I with 0 to 2 years legal secretarial experience. Louisiana Insurance defense experience is helpful; some litigation experience in preferred. Candidate must have exceptional organization skills and be able to manage/prioritize workload quickly and accurately. Candidate must be able to work quickly and under pressure of multiple deadlines and must have the ability to manage conflicting priorities. The position requires working closely with attorneys in their handling of civil litigation caseload. Job duties under general supervision will include, but are not limited to, generating legal pleadings, discovery and preparing correspondence and internal reports, scheduling, maintaining attorney calendars, file organization,filing document with the Court, maintaining office filing, processing incoming and outgoing mail. Must have excellent telephone skills and be able to communicate with clients, attorneys' offices, the Courts and the GEICO Claims Department. Requirements: Must be able to, with or without accommodation, perform the essential functions which include, but are not limited to seeing, hearing, typing, speaking, bending, reaching and standing. Must be able to use a keyboard and a mouse Must be able to multi-task. Must be able to access and utilize multiple pieces of office equipment that may require simultaneous use.
