To Apply Columbia/Barnard Hillel is seeking an engaging, knowledgeable, and authentic professional to serve as its Director of Israel Engagement. The Director of Israel Engagement will be a core member of the Student Life Team, working closely with colleagues as a lead professional in the organization's work related to Israel. The Director of Israel Engagement will be supervised by the Assistant Director What You'll Do. Advise and support student-led Israel groups, spanning the spectrum of political, cultural, and societal aspects of Israel education and advocacy. Staff some of Columbia/Barnard Hillel's Israel travel opportunities. Engage students from a wide range of backgrounds and beliefs in conversations about Israel, and ensure that students feel heard, challenged, and supported. Serve as an educator and facilitator for students who are looking to learn more about Israel in general and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict specifically. Play a significant role in working with students and colleagues in shaping strategy around responding to campus conversations about Israel. Serve as a bridge between outside Israel organizations and Columbia/Barnard Hillel. Be an active member of the Student Life Team, assisting with planning and implementation of Shabbat, holiday, and other communal programming throughout the academic year. Significant knowledge about Israel and a desire to continue to learn. A willingness to listen to and engage with students from varying backgrounds and walks of life. The ability to empower, challenge, and support student leaders. What You've Accomplished. 5 years of relevant work experience, including work on a college campus/with young adults, work related to Israel engagement/education, and work with diverse Jewish communities. Bachelor's degree required, master's degree and/or certificate in Israel education and/or Jewish education a plus. What You'll Receive. Competitive salary in the non-profit marketplace.
