The Senior Product Owner will be responsible for assessing market needs, aligning them with enterprise strategy and translating them into actionable artifacts to be used by the engineering team to develop Innovatives software products.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves as internal champion, decision maker and subject matter expert for product set
Serve as product liaison to the Resource Sharing Customer Advisory Board, including attending regular phone and in-person meetings, presenting roadmaps and leading discussion groups
Spends time in market developing customer and market insights; leads product discovery activities
Create, maintains and communicates roadmaps and product backlog
Utilizes insights and internal data to make data-based decisions
Supports product launches with insights, messaging and value proposition
Fulfills typical Product Owner role, including leading the development of JIRA Story tasks and Confluence artifacts for the team and managing the prioritized backlog aligned to portfolio strategy.
Leads feature-based requirements gathering and analysis; supports development of infrastructure requirements gathering.
Identifies design problems; develops and presents solutions to resolve these problems.
Provides domain expertise and product knowledge to the team.
Coordinates with Marketing, Technical Writing, Services, Support and Release Engineering for product launches and releases
Researches topics as needed for new development.
Liaison with Sales, Support, Services, Marketing and Technical Writing as needed throughout the Product lifecyle process.
Triage and analyze JIRA Problem Report and Bug tasks as needed; prioritize the backlog and coordinate escalation with appropriate teams
Approve software changes (as needed)
Assist with the creation of configuration and installation procedures; support Technical Writing with appropriate documentation
May provide guidance and coaching to less-experienced peers.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Licenses, and Certifications:
Bachelors degree, or combination of some college and experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
Library Operations preferably academic or large public library
Academic Research Library or Research Institution Administration
Software Specification Writing
Software Quality Assurance
Software Application Support
Experience with Agile methodologies.
Critical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
Excellent analytical skills.
Strong presentations skills and comfort interacting with C-level customers
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to organize and prioritize work.
Ability to coach and assist other team members when needed.
Good research skills.
Good problem-solving skills.
MLIS or BS Computer Science.
Familiarity with library practices and procedures.
Experience with Library Automation Software.
Experience with UNIX, RDBMS, Windows O/S.
Experienced user of iOS and/or Android mobile applications with a specific passion for usability.
Programming or Scripting Language Experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS OR INFORMATION
Although duties are typically performed during normal business hours, occasional off-hours work may be required to meet customer and/or business needs.
Position may be required to travel occasionally to attend conferences and training and conduct customer visits.
