RESPONSIBILITIES: Kforce has a client, a fast-growing healthcare startup, in New York, NY that is seeking a Manager - Software Engineering. This is a partial remote (2-3 WFH) position. It can sit out of NY or San Francisco office. An ideal leader should have a mixture (not all of them) of tech stack: Ruby, React/Redux, Node/JavaScript, Microservices, etc.; We are looking for a leader with strong people skills as well as architecture background. Summary: As an Engineering Manager at this firm, you will grow and develop a team of engineers dedicated to our mental health care mission. You are passionate about creating an environment where engineers can tackle ambitious goals without compromising a healthy and integrated life. You are a strong technologist, with experience building and architecting large complex systems. You enjoy working alongside product managers, designers, clinicians, and operations to build a product that delivers deep impact to individuals. Engineering Managers at the client are stewards of our culture, as motivated to recruit and build a team as they are to dive into challenging technical problems. Responsibilities: Develop and coach team members, ensuring a high level of performance and professional growth Manage the team's measured progress toward team goals - continuously improve performance of velocity, quality, and reliability Partner with the business and product managers to define and prioritize the long-term product roadmap and align it with architectural input from the team Lead and participate in key technical, design, and product discussions of large initiatives, representing your team with leaders across different parts of our organization Act as a hiring manager, define and maintain the interview process for your team; Partner closely with recruiting on sourcing strategies, interviewing, closing and onboarding REQUIREMENTS: 5 years of industry experience writing production code 3 years of experience managing software engineers Deep knowledge of OOP fundamentals Strong understanding of scaled agile practices (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) Strong understanding of common architectural patterns and frameworks Strong verbal and written communication skills; Able to influence at all levels Strong analytical, architectural and critical thinking skills Nice to have experience in mental health or healthcare Competencies: You are a collaborator; You build and maintain strong, productive working relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers You are an engineer at heart; You have a strong sense of architectural patterns (and anti-patterns) and an intuition of what it takes to get complex projects shipped You are a coach; You derive deep satisfaction in helping engineers develop new skills and advance in their careers You lead by example; You get on the front lines to understand your team's strengths and weaknesses and are able to set the right context and scope for excellent teamwork You have an eye for talent; You've successfully recruited great people to your teams You hustle; You don't need to wait for people to tell you what to work on You are empathetic; You seek to understand each individual's diversity of background and experience to build great teams; We are offering a competitive package including superb medical benefits Kforce is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
