In the Director of Employee Relations role, you will partner and provide your HR expertise to employees and management across the company. The position is a critical role for our People Team in NYC and will report directly to the VP of HR Business Partnering. This role will focus on two key components of our employee experience: advocating for our employees and ensuring fair and unbiased employment processes are used.

Employee Relations
Advocating for our employees, this role will manage the Open Door policy for US based employees to raise issues or concerns; act as counsel to employees, leaders and HR Business Partners (as needed) for employment guidance or issue resolution
Leads research and implementation of tooling to facilitate ease and safety of complaint submissions
Demystifies the employee relations process by creating and messaging clear, transparent procedures
Builds trust-based relationships with employees through compassion, fairness, and procedural fairness
Supports and fosters a service-mindset within the People team to ensure an excellent employee experience
Drives a proactive approach to Employee Relations and dispute resolution, including owning relevant training initiatives such as harassment and discrimination
Acts as independent investigator on employment issues or escalations as required, including policy development/interpretation, application, advisory services and working directly with General Counsel or the legal team on any matters from the whistleblower hotline that may not require external investigation
Acts as subject matter expert to Business Partners and leaders (as needed) on employment status or regulations for US/North America
Develops the teams knowledge base of employment practices to increase teams efficiency and impact

Employment Compliance
Manages, reviews and approves employee actions/classifications and job status (i.e., exempt v non-exempt) as needed
Develops and reviews changes to employment documentation and templates such as offer letters, transfer letters and notifications (as needed)
May engage with Audit, Finance, People Ops and Legal on any SOX compliance or other HR or employee related policies or processes
Will work with the North American People Services Leader and HR Business Partners to define and manage necessary programs, vendors and processes related to US employment compliance

Background & Experience
10+ years of relevant HR experience as a Business Partner or HR Sr Manager ideally in the fast-paced technology industry, building in a high-growth environment
Experience in policy development and design of investigation procedures
Demonstrated expertise in harassment prevention techniques, training and investigations as needed
Demonstrated ability to act as a key change agent to initiate, facilitate and manage changes through effective planning, communication and coaching
Consistently strives to spot opportunity and drive improvements and organizational change to better foster the companys culture in our People practices / processes
Ability to work with, and influence, a diverse cross section of the organization
Exhibits an employee first service mentality
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Flexible for periodic travel
