To provide allocated engineering services for the generation of new business ideas, providing capability to develop strategic options into fully sanctioned schemes. Key Accountabilities
FUNCTIONAL ROLE FOR SUBSTATION PROJECTS Develop and document substation communication topology/architecture. Prepare list of control, status, and metering points used for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and associated scaling instructions. Develop requirements for the operation of Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), Digital Display Meters (DDMs), revenuemeters, annunciators, communication processors, control switch relays, and connections to other Intelligent ElectronicDevices (IEDs) in electrical substations. Prepare control & integration equipment lists including part numbers. Implement QA/QC for project deliverables.
TECHNICAL LEAD FOR SUBSTATION PROJECTS Perform engineering for electric transmission and distribution substations for control, metering, and instrumentationprojects. Provide detailed technical scopefor projects. Perform engineering calculations as needed to support technical decision making. Provide technical leadership on a multi-disciplined project team. Prepare comprehensive written reports detailing engineering recommendations, and present findings at an engineeringreview meeting Support Project Manager and Project Management Processes. Provide information toproject estimatinggroup foreconomic analysis. Review drawings associated with projects, including manufacturers' equipment. Manage consultants' work, ensuring compliance and technical adequacy against approved standards.
NON-PROJECT RELATED Develop standards, guidelines, specifications, and procedures, and roll them out to impacted departments. Insure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements such as cyber security (NERC-CIP). Develop subject matter expertise with commonly used control, metering, and instrumentation equipment. Support operations personnel to troubleshoot problems related to substation control, metering and/or instrumentationsystems. SupportIEC61850 station design, distributed generation, grid modernization andother corporate initiatives. Evaluate and support efforts related to new substation control, metering and instrumentation methodologies with respectto changes in the industry. Support storm restoration efforts in a field role as needed or required. Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required Able to lead interdisciplinary technical teams to evaluate solution options and develop project scopes, cost estimates and project schedules. Qualifications A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program with a preference forpower coursework/concentration. Minimum of 5 years of experience Familiarity with common utility communication methods and protocols such as serial RS232/485, Distributed NetworkProtocol (DNP3), Internet Protocol (IP)and IEC61850 communication standard. Ability to read electrical schematics and a working knowledge of the devices represented on typical utility substationschematics. Knowledge of 3-phase AC systems, and utility DC systems. Familiarity with substation testing, commissioning, and maintenance techniques. Experience with substation automation, SCADA, metering, and control. Proficient MS Office computer skills (Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Proven interpersonal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization with responsibilities to a functional manager and to project managers. Valid drivers license More Information
