National Salvage & Service Corporation is an industry leader and a growing company. We are taking on more work, forming new teams, and currently hiring Knuckle Boom Operators to work along railroad tracks picking up track materials. Our knuckle booms are mounted to the backs of the trucks; similar to log loaders, and debris pickup trucks. Individuals with a background in logging, forestry, and hurricane relief work are strongly encouraged to apply.National assists Class One Railroads in their track renewal and maintenance programs. If you enjoy traveling and working outside, this is the career for you. This position entails following a procedure and using an established method to ensure safety and accuracy. Our operators are detail oriented, efficient at staging materials, and safety oriented. At National, we focus on completing each job the right way, the first time. To be considered you MUST have previous experience operating a knuckle boom, log loader, or grapple. Class A or Class B CDL is required.Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities* All work takes place outside on railroad tracks, through all weather conditions.* Working away from home for 4 weeks, then home for 1 week.* Working region is every state to the East of the Mississippi River (Eastern 1/3 of the United States)* Operating a rear mounted log loader boom to pick up railroad ties, rail, or powerline poles.* Loading flatbeds or rail cars.* Filling out daily paperwork using a smartphone, laptop, or computer device.Position-specific Competencies* Able to work long hours in all weather conditions.* Hold valid drivers license.* Ability to lift 25 pounds.* Completely and accurately fill out daily paperwork.* Able to use a smartphone.* Basic mechanical knowledge in order to make small repairs.* Follow all Safety Programs, Policies and ProceduresRequirements* Minimum 2-3 years previous experience operating a grapple, knuckleboom, or log loader.* Class A or B CDL is required.
