Synthesizes input provided by assessments, analysis, Subject Matter Experts, and other stakeholders to determine the content and flow of courseware to solve specific training needs for our customers, partners, and employees.The Instructional Designer uses creativity, logic, evidence, and innovation to design courses that prepare the Container Terminal Industry for the challenges of high-performing operations and rapid change in logistics and software. He or she is endlessly curious and keeps up with new design methodologies, learning formats, and delivery methods. The Navis Instructional Designer works independently and collaboratively as necessary to design and build learning experiences of the highest quality. The successful candidate will join an experienced, practical, global team.ResponsibilitiesAnalyze data from job and learning assessments, determine learning gaps, and identify learning objectives needed to close them.Using accepted learning theory, design engaging learning experiences that are aligned to the learning objectives, business strategies, and goals.Deploy a variety of adult​ learning instructional techniques in the training design, and produce training deliverables that exemplify a cohesive product in a single, consistent voice.Design and create supporting materials for students and instructors, including slides, job aids, audio, video, simulations, animations, infographics, role plays, games, etc.Using a variety of formats, write quiz questions that evaluate specific skills and knowledge. Test and validate quiz questions with appropriate sources.Adapt instructional materials created for one format to another format.Use interview skills, logic, and evidence to distinguish need-to-know content from nice-to-know content, keeping the learner as the central driving force.Finalize draft content that adheres to departmental style guides and quality definitions.Internalize departmental standards for design and delivery, and take initiative to propose solutions for as-yet-undefined standards that balance quality and productivity.Provide and receive constructive feedback. Maintain agility and steady pacing with the design and production workflows. Seek out training when improvement is necessary.Test, debug, and optimize existing courseware, graphics, SCORM, and animation files to ensure functionality.Perform other duties as assigned.RequirementsBachelor's Degree in Instructional Technology, a learning-based field, or equivalent experience1-3 years’ experience developing technical instructor-led training and/or e-learning for software or industrial environment within tight timelines and requirementsDemonstrated experience developing program performance-based objectives, written and visual instructional content, and assessments1-3 years’ practical and demonstrable experience with all or most of the following authoring and development tools: Adobe Captivate, Adobe Presenter, Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator (or open source equivalents), Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Snag-It1-3 years’ practical and demonstrable experience testing interactive e-learning SCORM packages inside and outside of the delivery LMSExcellent oral and written communications skills Technical acumenAttentive to detail and accuracy, grammar, punctuation, and proofreadingAbility to manage multiple projects and assignments in a deadline-driven environmentSolid knowledge of a variety of courseware development workflows and storage toolsPassion for learning, communicating, and solving problemsHigh degree of interest in the logistics and container terminal industriesAbility to work independently and collaborativelyAbility to give and receive constructive criticismAdaptable, good-humored, graciousAdditional Expertise DesiredProficiency in advanced authoring tools such as Lectora, or equivalent technologies, and graphic, video, and 3D animation production tools such as Blender, Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Unity, Sumerian, Unreal, or open-source equivalentsMultilingual fluency is a plusFamiliarity with the Cornerstone LMS system is a plusExperience in either the container terminal or technical software industryExperience with developing VR and/or AR training and environmentsExperience with production and post-production of technical video trainingAbout Navis Navis is the global market leader in a multi-billion dollar industry building and implementing maritime terminal operating systems, optimization and automation solutions at ports around the world.
