Position Summary The New York City Department of Education (DOE) is the largest school system in the nation, with nearly 1.1 million students and approximately 75,000+ teachers in over 1,800 schools.
The Executive Director of Continuous Improvement within the Office of the First Deputy Chancellor will serve as the leader in the development and implementation of a Continuous Improvement process for the Department of Education. The Executive Director will work closely with the Senior Executive Director to lead and facilitate strategic engagement between the Chancellor, Executive Superintendents, Superintendents, Borough/Citywide Offices, school communities, and other stakeholders. This work includes high-level instructional planning, presentations, engagement with senior officials, and oversight for progress monitoring across the Department of Education. The Executive Director supports the overall team in achieving EduStat goals and continuously improving the Agency s performance.

Direct Reports Senior Advisor, EduStat; Senior Director, EduStat; Managers of EduStat; Consultants as needed.
Key Relationships The Office of the First Deputy Chancellor, the Continuous Improvement Team, Executive Superintendents, Superintendents, Borough/Citywide Offices, the Mayor s Office, New York City Agency Commissioners, the Chancellor, the Chancellor s cabinet, and school communities.
Serves as the point person and face for EduStat, the organizational strategic progress monitoring and continuous improvement program.
Creates and implements vision, intellectual leadership, coordination, and strategic planning for an institution-wide framework, and efforts to advance equity and accelerate school improvement through strategic monitoring across the system.
Liaises with the Mayor s office, City agencies, and other school districts to continually grow the program.
Partners cross-functionally with other central offices, Executive Superintendents, Superintendents, Borough/Citywide Offices, and senior leadership to ensure a collaborative process for engaging multiple stakeholders in continuous improvement to support all schools.
Creates coherence and opportunities for schools to hold central accountable.
Oversees the design, development, training, implementation, and evaluation of EduStat.
Develops and delivers presentations for the Mayor s office, the Chancellor s Office, and other key leadership stakeholders.
Advocates on behalf of the Senior Executive Director to ensure that the continuous improvement process is effective and that the appropriate resources are available.
Maintains and promotes best practices, benchmarking, and current trends in diversity and inclusion; ensures that expertise and research is used to inform excellence in instructional program and policy development work.
Develop metrics to inform strategic planning/decision-making and to ensure accountability in tracking and monitoring.
Develops and analyzes actionable metrics that support monitoring, needs analysis, utilizing KPIs, and strategic insights regarding support delivery and school improvement.
Develops and manages annual budgets.
Strategically directs resources to achieve project, team, and overall organizational goals.
Must currently possess or will possess by date of hire, New York State certification as a school district administrator (SDA) or school district leader (SDL). Please Note We do not accept internship certificates.

Experience in education administration and policy level experience at the administrative level.
