Our client is seeking an experienced IT Portfolio Manager for a 6+ month Contract to Hire role in New York, NY (10017). This role will lead the IT Transformational group, supporting full project lifecycle for a large portfolio, with a focus on leading program and project level reviews, optimizing and maintaining project standards, proactively identifying improvement, analytical reporting, and training staff. This role requires a motivated and well-organized candidate that is comfortable challenging the status quo and navigating new territories without an established map. The candidate should possess strong leadership, creative problem solving, thoughtful analysis, and ability to work independently with minimal oversight. Responsibilities Manage the day-to-day operations of the portfolio Facilitate project review and checkpoint meetings Produce and analyze portfolio/project level reports against key performance indicators Escalate issues that threaten portfolio and project success Develop staff in project management methodologies and best practices to develop skills and capabilities Contribute to the improvement of a common set of practices, tools and templates for portfolio, program, and project level management and ensures standards are being followed Develop process and procedures to conduct business operations more effectively Lead cross-functional working groups to meet organizational objectives and goals May provide direct project support for client base if necessary Qualifications Education 10 years of work experience with 5-7 years of direct work as a project and program manager Experience in analyzing project finance and accounting Experience with project management methodologies Experience managing and implementing changes to business processes Technically competent with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), Microsoft Project Self-starter with ability to lead projects Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with ability to express complex ideas clearly Excellent people skills with a customer service-oriented approach Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and drive change Ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the organization Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks in a highly complex environment BA/BS degree required; Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred Please note: This position is not open to 3rd party c2c agencies.
