This newly created position requires at least 8 years of applicable experience, including 4+ years of asset/portfolio management for LIHTC/Section 8 properties or affordable housing underwriting experience.?

This company is Headquartered in NYC, however due to travel being up to 50% for this position, it can be based anywhere in the United States.?

Individual will report directly to the Chief Underwriter and will be responsible for due diligence and subsequent compilation and delivery of the firm?s proprietary formatted underwriting package to include:


  • Income and expense analysis (operating history and borrower proforma)
  • Net Operating Income derived from detailed projected income and expenses
  • Comparable Market Survey
  • Underwriting Narrative (location, physical plant, rental market, management)

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, due diligence site visits to evaluate property operations, management agent, physical plant conditions, field market research of comparable properties, research and evaluation of market area demographics, economic environment and conditions, affordable and conventional market conditions.?

This position will also participate in investment commitee presentation, communicate with borrowers, and have excellent room for growth as the company continues to ramp up.?


  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Real Estate or closely related field, Masters degree is a plus
  • Understanding of industry standards and underwriting guidelines for LIHTC and Section-8 investments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, specifically Excel
  • REO/property management / asset management experience of affordable housing properties across the US preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a high pressured, fast-paced and team-oriented environment
  • Ability to analyze financial statements
  • Ability to travel ? possibly 50% nationally
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent quantitative, written and verbal skills required

  • Detail oriented, organized and ability to work independently

  • Able to keep information highly confidential
