  • Supervise Resident Assistants: Recruit, interview, hire and train resident assistants.
  • Monitor each resident assistant in daily operations of the program: client relationship skills, communication skills, managing agreements, documentation and policy/procedures. Regularly work alongside resident assistants on all shifts to model and ensure understanding of shelter procedures.
  • Monitor resident assistants completion of required trainings
  • Share in planning and facilitating resident assistants monthly staff meeting with Program Director.
  • Develop and maintain schedule with all shifts covered.
  • Provide support to residents as needed.
  • Oversee provision for the daily basic needs of all clients in care.
  • Plan and supervise resident recreational activities including tracking of event attendance.
  • Monitor documentation, uphold standards for narratives, incident reporting, on-call, and shift responsibilities.
  • Serve as task supervisor for interns
  • Conduct periodic, surprise inspections of resident meals for CACFP and OTDA Compliance.
  • Maintain statistical accountability. Document clear and concise individual case narratives, referrals and summaries in HMIS (Homeless Management Information System). Review case notes of other case managers weekly and ask for clarification and/or updates.
  • Monitor and maintain data quality and accuracy for Resident Assistants; File review at case closing; review the LOS report weekly; prepare updates for LDSS weekly for families in shelter over 30 days.
  • Participate in the Leadership On-Call rotation for shelter and case management issues. Provide resources and referrals for crisis telephone inquiries and support the programs overall goal to safely shelter families while they transition to permanent housing.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings and training sessions including annual human resources trainings, CPR/First Aid, TB tests, meet bi-weekly with PD for supervision; meet 1x/month with PD and quarterly staff trainings as scheduled.
  • Represent The Salvation Army Emergency Family Shelter in a professional manner in the community, at meetings and/or task force sessions, trainings and other professional groups.
  • Demonstrate cultural competence and awareness as well as trauma informed care practices and integrate understanding into daily responsibilities to meet the objectives of The Salvation Army Syracuse Area Services Strategic Plan.
