TIME?S UP emerged from an international moment of reckoning when women came together and decided to turn their pain into action. The ambitions of TIME?S UP are realized by TIME?S UP Now, an independent, nonpartisan, and not-for-profit 501(c)(4) charitable organization, and the TIME?S UP Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Currently, TIME?S UP raises $10-$15M annually, which includes grants to the TIME?S UP Legal Defense Fund. This is a fast-paced organization with the goal of significant additional growth to meet the urgent opportunity ahead. Position Summary As a member of TIME?S UP senior management and leadership team, the Chief Development Officer (CDO) will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the organization. The CDO is responsible for leading the evolution and growth of TIME?S UP financial development efforts and will design and implement a comprehensive strategy to increase the organization's fundraising sophistication and revenue contribution broadly across principal and major gifts, direct marketing/membership, and foundation and planned giving. The CDO will report to the President and CEO. In addition to direct management of the development staff, they will work in partnership with all aspects of the organization - in particular, the senior management team, the President, and the Board of Directors. As a key senior spokesperson for TIME?S UP, the Chief Development Officer will serve as an outstanding communicator who is at ease in a front-facing role, with the stature and credibility to cultivate and maintain senior-level relationships across a variety of donors, including foundations, corporations, individuals, and other partner organizations. Duties and Responsibilities: Analyze TIME?S UP?s fundraising potential and seek, in collaboration with senior management, to build an environment in which successful resource development can take place Communicate TIME?S UP?s mission to a wide variety of stakeholders to inspire and motivate constituencies to achieve ambitious revenue generation goals Articulate a clear and compelling case for support of TIME?S UP, TIME?S UP Legal Defense Fund, and the variety of issues the organization takes on As part of TIME?S UP senior management, play a role in setting program priorities and overall direction for TIME?S UP Create, develop and direct the implementation of a dynamic, comprehensive and cohesive fundraising strategy for TIME?S UP, working in collaboration with staff, affiliates, and board members Guide, manage and participate in efforts to identify, cultivate and solicit sources of funds and gifts, including major gifts, foundation/corporate grants, special events, endowment support, and gift planning Oversee the development and production of materials and publications which communicate TIME?S UP?s mission and programs to its constituencies and potential constituencies in support of fundraising programs Set goals, establish metrics, evaluate performance and manage the overall operations of TIME?S UP development program Manage numerous board and affiliate processes and committees Oversee the organization?s grant and report writing, and coordinate the process with the senior leadership team Candidate Profile: TIME?S UP seeks an innovative and creative leader with 15+ years of progressive experience who will bring demonstrated success in fundraising, preferably within individual giving and major gift solicitation. The candidate will be a passionate advocate, comfortable embracing the mission of TIME?S UP and issues the organization supports. They will have an intellectual curiosity and be flexible to transition with urgency as priority issues arise and demand support. They will have experience with leading the fundraising effort for a 501(c)(4) and/or 527organization. They will be adept at working closely with a board of directors, staff, associates and other constituents, communicating widely to a variety of stakeholders in order to achieve ambitious revenue goals. They will have outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to represent TIME?S UP effectively to a wide universe of stakeholders. ? Specific competencies include: Communication and Fundraising Skills: ?The candidate will be an inspiring communicator who can articulate TIME?S UP?s mission and issue-depth to a wide audience, and who can cultivate and maintain individual and major donors. They will have a track record for securing gifts from a wide range of donors, with priority focus on major/principal gifts. Setting Strategy: ?The successful candidate will have strong strategic and analytical skills in order to set priorities and achieve or surpass financial goals. This will include the ability to identify and analyze prospective donors, including but not limited to major donors and foundations that will support TIME?S UP?s mission. They will work collaboratively with senior management to develop innovative and creative fundraising plans with proper methods and evaluation for long-term sustainability. They will identify and secure high-value foundation grants while also generating increased fundraising from individual donors, major donors, and annual appeals through a coordinated, strategic approach. Executing for Results: ?The successful candidate will have success in developing and implementing strategic fundraising programs for nonprofit organizations, as well as developing and managing collaborative relationships with partners. This includes the ability to manage internal and external relationships; preparing, justifying and presenting funding cases, budgets and plans; and measuring the impact of different strategies and programs while communicating those outcomes to the appropriate parties. The candidate will also have experience building and managing complex budgets for both annual and multi-year plans - including providing financial analysis. Team-Building and Leadership Skills : The CDO will lead by influence and will create a development culture across the organization. The candidate must be capable of recruiting top talent and leading and motivating a team to reach its full potential. They must have exemplary interpersonal skills to develop successful alliances. They must be comfortable communicating directly and openly with senior leaders both inside and outside the organization. Interpersonal Acumen:? The successful candidate will have a demonstrative commitment to building a diverse, inclusive and equitable work environment, and should have a clear understanding of their own strengths and weaknesses. The candidate will be confident enough to hire and retain strong, smart people. They will have unquestionable personal and professional integrity. In addition, a sense of humor is highly desirable. Additional information: A minimum starting salary of $275,000 will be provided to a successful candidate meeting the minimum requirements for the position.
