Analyzes program financial and business operations performance. Develops financial forecast models, variance analyses and budgets. Reports analyses and forecasts to management. Works independently and as part of a Finance team, reporting to the Director of Finance and Business Operations, VNSNY Hospice and Palliative Care. Works under general supervision.

  • Reviews and analyzes monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and completeness of journal entries, works with accounting team to make adjustments as needed, prepares reports of findings and disseminates financial reports to management for review.
  • Completes month-end close flash report and monthly reforecasting templates.
  • Designs and delivers management key performance indicator reports, and analyzes trends at level of care, channel, referral source, payer and other levels.
  • Computes and prepares financial variance reports on a regular basis to enhance cost controls, and investigates and reports on the causes of the variances to management.
  • Analyzes productivity, case-load and staffing level metrics, their variance from budget and trending.
  • Utilizes database applications and collaborates with Outcomes, Corporate Finance and Hospice operational teams to obtain data for various analyses.
  • Develops and analyzes business plans for new programs, creating financial statement projections and ROI analyses. Reports on project profitability and risks. Tracks viability of new programs through the design and implementation of performance indicators.


Education: Bachelor s Degree in Accounting/Finance required. Master s Degree in Business Administration or other related discipline preferred.


Experience:Minimum of four years of experience in financial analysis with extensive financial modeling background required. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel (lookups, pivot tables, match, sumifs, etc.), Word, and PowerPoint required. Experience with SAS/SQL, Workday, Homecare Homebase, Adaptive Insights, or Tableau a plus. Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills required.
