The Digital & Social Media Strategist will be responsible for managing and maintaining Womens Health Research at Yales visual communication that informs multiple target audiences of complex interdisciplinary scientific information. Understand and promote WHRYs research, public education, training program, and national policy efforts and how to employ diversified visual content and emerging trends in technology and media consistent with the overall communication strategy that reflects WHRYs conceptual mission and goals. Produce multimedia content that represents the rapid pace of science and how its translation to clinical and personal practice has value.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Develop and implement a comprehensive, diversified internet presence and social media strategy to advance WHRYs outreach through multimedia content targeting various audiences nationally, regionally and locally. Manage a forward-looking social media strategy across existing platforms to drive performance, as well as develop content for new platforms to enhance and communicate WHRYs message. Work with the director, assistant director and communications officer to highlight our research, create a high profile presence, and reach new audiences. Lead the visual design for all digital and print materials and ensure the integrity of WHRYs Brand. Consider content, tailoring of design and plan the roll-out of materials in collaboration with the communications officer. Develop concepts for and manage the video production of multiple WHRY video series related to important health topics. Collaborate with the director, assistant director and communications officer to explain scientific research concepts through visual media. Mentor undergraduate fellows in the video series development and production, and provide technical guidance in the execution of animation/motion graphics. Manage content and development of WHRYs website which consists of the public-facing main site, public-facing research site, and secure/private portal. Ensure adherence to YSM standards and University accessibility policies. Guide and oversee the Senior Administrative Assistant in handling routine website revisions and updates. Review trends in metrics to shape and inform future content development and find areas to streamline flow of information. Mentor undergraduate creative communication fellows whose research project-based focus is tailored to align with the individual students interests while also serving the centers mission.

1. Develops and manages forward-looking strategic communications with video and social media to enhance Yales reputation and communicate Yales messages. 2. Produces multimedia content. Identify topics with compelling visual and audio elements to create stories that exploit those qualities, using video, podcasts, infographics, slideshows and other media as appropriate. 3. Works with communications colleagues throughout the school and university to highlight the work of researchers, create a high profile presence, and reach new audiences. 4. Builds relationships with faculty, administrators, departments and students and maintains contact with communications professionals and monitors trending news topics. 5. Conceptualizes and writes creative posts across all social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other accounts. 6. Participates in regular editorial/content meetings. Propose story ideas to senior leadership. 7. Regularly attends scientific talks on diverse topics to stay up-to-date on research trends at Yale and beyond.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree and minimum of two years of experience in science writing, social media, digital journalism (e.g., video, audio blogging, etc.) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Skill/Ability 1:
Familiarity with Photo/Video Editing Software, Microsoft Office Suite, MailWorks Pro and MailChimp.
Required Skill/Ability 2:
Knowledge of web-based applications such as Dream Weaver, SDL, Java Script, HTML, CSS, Chrome, Internet Explorer and/or other related applications.
Required Skill/Ability 3:
Knowledge of Google Analytics, Qualtrics or other related programs.
Required Skill/Ability 4:
Knowledge of Research Tools such as Lexus/Nexus, Medline, or other related tools.
Required Skill/Ability 5:
Familiarity with brand management, social media strategy, print and web design and/or email marketing.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Background in graphic design, visual design, web design, information design, or similar. at least two years of experience in brand management, social media strategy, print and web design, email marketing.
Preferred Licenses or Certifications:
Social Media Marketing certification or training.
